BUILDING CONNECTION THROUGH MENTORSHIP
I just got an email from Lindsey Carter (I’m subscribed to her Substack, which is packed with insight on her journey as a founder, plus all things SET – that activewear brand is seriously next level). Her latest post about building a mentor-mentee relationship got me thinking about my own career and what mentorship really means.
I didn’t have a dedicated mentor early on, but I learned to surround myself with people who offered support, shared wisdom, and had the same energy. It’s been a game-changer, especially as I step into the entrepreneurial space myself. I’ve found that having a network of like-minded women makes the journey feel less daunting and way more empowering.
The thing I love most about mentorship is how it flows both ways. Last year, I had the chance to mentor someone in the HR industry, and honestly, I learned just as much from her as she did from me. It’s not just about guidance—it’s about mutual growth.
At the end of the day, mentorship is about connection. It’s not about finding the perfect person to lead you; it’s about building an environment where both people grow, evolve, and feel supported.
I’d love to hear your stories about mentorship. What’s been your experience?
