HOW TO TAKE YOUR POWER BACK

A question I often hear in my coaching sessions is, "How do I take back my power?" While the answer is unique to each person, I want to dive deeper into this today because I’ve noticed that many women tend to give away their power in various areas of their lives, including their careers, relationships, and friendships.

To me, taking back your power means adopting a mindset where you don’t stress over things beyond your control. You stay in your lane, focus on yourself, and prioritize what you can control — your time, energy, health, and well-being. You stop comparing yourself to others or worrying about their opinions. Instead, you focus on what feels right for you.

This mindset shift involves stepping back, grounding yourself, and recognizing what you have to offer. You start embracing your unique strengths and acknowledging your worth. For example, having the confidence to ask for a raise after putting in hard work — and instead of demanding it, you present a clear rationale that demonstrates why you’ve earned it.

Taking back your power isn’t about overperforming in every situation — whether at work, with friends, or in personal relationships. It’s about being unapologetically yourself. It’s about knowing that you don’t need to overcompensate to align with what lights you up. And it’s about recognizing when something isn’t right for you and having the strength to walk away.

By not placing work, relationships, or external factors on a pedestal, you reclaim your energy. Instead of asking, “Will they accept me?” ask yourself, “Does this align with my values? Is this relationship fulfilling? Am I truly happy in this?” It all begins and ends with you — your feelings, your choices, and your worth.

Taking back your power is a continual process, beginning with small, intentional steps. Every decision you make from a place of self-awareness and confidence brings you closer to the life you want.

Start by asking yourself: What would it look like to reclaim my power today? How can I take back control in areas where I’ve been giving it away?
