HOW I RESET FOR A BUSY WEEK AHEAD
I'm writing this blog on a Wednesday instead of a Sunday, which makes me wish it was the weekend because this week has been absolutely hectic! As someone who's always going a mile a minute, and juggling multiple things at once, I always make sure to reserve Sunday evenings for some much-needed me time.
I used to believe I was too busy for self-care, thinking my other priorities were more important. However, that perspective shifted as I began to advance in my career; by Friday night, I'd often find myself utterly exhausted. This constant pace made me realize that neglecting my well-being was taking a toll not just on my energy levels, but also on my overall productivity and mental health. I began to understand that self-care isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity.
This Sunday night routine is something I eagerly look forward to every weekend. By engaging in self-care activities, I’m able to recharge my energy and foster a positive mindset, preparing myself to embrace the week ahead. Without further ado, I thought I’d share my routine below:
5:00 PM - On Sundays, after visiting the farmers market, I like to cook a healthy meal, usually baked stuffed salmon with spinach and goat cheese for dinner, served with wild rice and a fresh salad drizzled with homemade garlic vinaigrette.
6:30 PM - I start by getting ready for my bath; I light my favorite candle and start by dry brushing my body with this brush, and fill the tub with hot water while adding either these magnesium Epsom salts or these ones. I also like to add in this bath oil which smells divine while I soak for about 15 to 20 minutes, taking this time to unwind.
7:15 PM - After my bath, I make it a point to hydrate my skin with this body oil, as the hot water can be drying on my skin.
8:00 PM - I brew my favorite tea, which has helped me sleep more soundly throughout the night.
8:15 PM - Before getting into bed, I put my legs up against the wall for 15 minutes to help support lymphatic drainage - if you know, you know!
8:30 PM - I turn on my diffuser in the bedroom with lavender essential oil, filling the space with a calming scent, that sets the mood for relaxation. I switch my phone to “sleep mode,” to avoid getting distracted, allowing myself to get cozy in bed with a book until 9pm, when it’s lights out.
Though my routine is quite simple, it makes a significant impact - I wake up feeling refreshed, energized, and prepared to tackle the week ahead. Self-care is essential, and it's important to carve out time for it, even in small ways, throughout the week. Hopefully this post has left you feeling inspired to implement ( if you haven’t already) your own Sunday night routine, to set you up for a successful work week ahead.
